4889명의 참가자를 포함한 52개의 무작위 대조 시험을 분석하여 한약과 칼슘 및 비타민 D 보충제를 병용할 경우 골밀도가 개선되는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 포함된 연구들 간의 이질성이 크기 때문에 결과 해석에 주의가 필요하다. 연구의 한계로는 보고된 편향과 높은 이질성으로 인해 결과의 신뢰성이 떨어질 수 있다는 점이 있다.
