28편의 연구를 포함하여 경추 조작 요법(SMT)의 통증 및 장애 개선 효과를 평가하였다. 메타 분석 결과, SMT가 권장 치료보다 통증 감소 및 장애 개선에 있어 유의한 효과를 보였으나, 증거의 확실성은 매우 낮았다. 일시적인 부작용만 관찰되었다.
