이 연구는 무릎 골관절염 환자 70명을 대상으로 운동과 침 치료의 효과를 비교했다. EITBM 이론에 따라 선택된 혈위에서의 침 치료가 기존의 합의된 혈위에서의 침 치료보다 통증 점수 감소에 더 효과적이었다. 연구의 한계로는 샘플 크기가 작고 단기적인 결과만을 평가했다는 점이 있다.
